Cards with Cause bio picture

Giving because it's the right thing to do.

On January 12th, 2010, Port-au-Prince, Haiti was hit with a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake.  Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere.  With hospitals, schools, and homes being so poorly constructed, the densely populated city has crumbled leaving the death toll in upwards of 100,000 and so many more injured and missing.  It is not enough to watch and read about it with heavy hearts.  Cards with Cause is pulling resources together to raise money for Samaritan's Purse Haiti Earthquake Relief efforts.

Photographers, Designers, White House Custom Color, and so many others have donated their time and services to offer Fine Art Photographic Greeting Cards for sale.  All of the profits are donated directly to Samaritan's Purse through Ebay Giving works.

Cards Packaging Party

I am so excited how all of this came together.  It wouldn’t be happening without the help of so many people.  I can’t thank Sam and Steph enough for coming over to help me package the cards and get them sent out.  They did a really great job being precise and efficient.  The cards and the boxes look incredible!  Thanks so much girls!  We sent out 13 sets last week.  We’re off to a good start.

Here’s a few shots from our packaging party.

Wahoo! First set came in from the lab today!

One of the cards came in early.  I was so excited that I couldn’t take the time to get my real camera out so I shot this with my iPhone.  The rest of the cards are coming tomorrow.  I’ll post images of our packaging party.  So exciting!  Thanks again Ryel for donating beautiful images.

Heartfelt remarks

I cannot help but ache when I look at the reports from Haiti.  Tears poured today when I saw a photo of a 2 month old baby who lost all of her immediate family in the earthquake.  Can you imagine…that little girl will never know her mother, or her father or siblings, ever!  I read about another story of a mother who lost all but one of her children.  It’s not just one sad story.  It’s thousands.  THOUSANDS!  I cannot even fathom what it feels like to be present there and hear the countless stories told by the survivors themselves.  To hear someone tell their story and then watch as they don’t even make it to the end of the day alive…I would not make it.  I think about my comfortable life and can’t fully comprehend this kind of tragedy.  Husbands, mothers, babies, brothers, daddys, pastors, school teachers, doctors…every one of those 100,000 people that look like just a number in the written reports from 1000 miles away is really the life of one human being.

I need to help.  I have everything I need and more.  So, as a photographer, as a Marine wife, as an American, who wanted to give more, I needed to find a way to reach out to the community and do what I can to help the people of Haiti.  Cards with Cause is the result.  Please visit the rest of the site for more information on what we’re doing.  Click here if you would like to buy cards now.
